Birthday Wishes

Finished this piece today, all hand cut by me! Will turn it into cards this evening, but I had fun cutting it out myself. Plenty of practice needed, but it was an achievement, and feel satisfied. I won't be doing many cut by hand as I just don't have the time and even though the majority of my designs are cut by machine, digital and laser, they still hold the magical sparkle and fascination papercutting gives. I want to dedicate my time to each design, after all i'm a graphic designer foremost and where my passion is for typography, papercutting is just my means of expressing it onto paper instead of printing.

New card designs

Birthday wishes, 60th, 90th, Mum and Grandma cards are just a few designs I've been asked to create over the past couple of months, slowly getting a collection together. Here's one design in progress, and yes I'm cutting it out by hand first to see what it looks like and to polish my hand cutting skills!

Wedding season is here!

I'm frantically finishing off the first set of wedding commissions. I've some new designs to show and these will become available to buy soon in my shop. This design follows on from my secret garden theme from the other year.

Long time since my last post!

Yes, its been a long time, nearly two years! A lot has changed in my life. We have a beautiful baby girl, Emilia, who actually isn't very little anymore! at 14 months old she's keeping me on my toes, but I love every minute. In turn I haven't spent as much time designing and cutting as I would have liked, but I have done a few commissions and personal designs over the past year, which I can't wait to show off! I'm currently working on a family tree design, along with stationery for two weddings this year, and I've started created a range of greeting cards which I hope to be come available soon.

Not only have I been busy setting up my Etsy shop, I'm also in the process of learning about Wordpress and will have a website up soon (fingers crossed). I've also been exploring different frames,  one day I will be able to offer handmade frames created by my husband who is a excellent carpenter and crafter himself.

Edit: I should have written before that I've had a lot of emails over the past year, an recently requesting commissions or asking questions, apologies if I haven't replied, just so you all know, i'm only taking on a few commissions now and can't always answer every email in my inbox (otherwise I would be there all night, every night!) but will be selling my current (bespoke) designs via Etsy very soon. Thank you for all your interest and support over the past year! Looking forward to returning with some fresh ideas! Samantha x

New Designs, New Commissions

Following on from my previous post about not being able to do as much papercutting as I would like, here are a few other designs I've done over the past few weeks, I'm currently down to about one a week now, and really don't think I'll be able to do any more than this in the near future.

We are expecting!

Wow it really has been a long time since I did a post on here! I've been so busy with our changing lives that I haven't had the time to sit down and evaluate everything. Well I guess if you don't already know from my facebook page, I'd better tell you some very exciting news! My husband and I are proud to announce we are expecting out first baby, due 13th February 2013. For this reason I have had to take things a bit more easy and sill having a full time job during the day and papercutting by night something has had to give! I know I still have a lot of outstanding orders, or which some I will still be able to do, but some I might not, which I am sorry. I didn't realise how tired I would be, nor how it would effect my creativity and am finding it increasing hard to do new commissions when still doing my full time creative job and finding precious time to spend with my husband, family and friends. I hope everyone can understand. If you haven't heard from me in a while in reply to an email, just pester me, I've either missed it or thought I had replied (and yes baby brain is setting in!)
